[ The Memories Of Her Smile ]
[ Lifted My Mood ]
[ For Awhile ]

[ Then She Put Up A Picture ]
[ Of Her ]

[ With Her Hair Rearranged ]
[ Her Looks Weren’t Aged ]
[ Or Changed ]

[ It Took Me Back To When The Impression Was Made ]
[ Way Back In The First Grade ]

[ Back Then I Was One Shy ]
[ Little Pudgy Guy ]

[ Nobody Knew My Past ]
[ & She Never Asked ]

[ You See, I Had Just Moved There From Being In A Very
Physically Abusive Foster Home ]
[ My New Parents Were The Only People That Had Known ]

[ I Was Just Getting Used To My New Name ]
[ But My New Friend Treated Me Just The Same ]

[ As She Did Everybody Else ]
[ That Helped This Lost New Kid On The Block ]
[ To Just Be Himself ]

[ My New Friend Accepted Me For Me ]
[ If You’d Never Been One ]
[ You Don’t Know How Hard Being The New Kid Can Be ]

[ I Went From Living On A Big Farm To Living On A City Block ]
[ So I Kind Of Had Some Culture Shock ]
[ & I Found It Extremely Hard To Open Up & Talk ]

[ But My New Friend Never Made Fun ]
[ I Learned To Play & Run ]
[ Not Just Running From Someone ]

[ Physical Abuse Can Cause Internal Screams ]
[ @ My New Families Home The Nightmares Stopped ]
[ & Were Replaced With What Kinds Of Things That Makes Kids
Dreams ]

[ @ School Every Single Day ]
[ My New Friend Always Said ( HELLO ) To Me ]
[ In The Nicest & Most Accepting Way ]

[ My Friend & I Stayed Close Clear Through Graduation Of
High School ]
[ I Loved Standing Back From My Friend & Watch The Other Guys
Acting Like Fools ]
[ Other Guys Tried To Act So Cool ]

[ All Being So Sure ]
[ They Were Somehow, In Some Small Way ]
[ Impressing Her ]

[ She Never Got Arrogant Or Let Her Stunning Beauty Go To
Her Head ]
[ She Stayed Extremely Modest & Grounded Instead ]

[ So Just On A Whim I Went On Her FB Tonight To Make A
Comment ]
[ I Paid Her A Compliment ]
[ That I Truly Meant ]

[ She Paid Back The Compliment Back By Saying She Considers
Me A Close Friend Through All Of These Years ]
[ She’s Always Been Head & Shoulders Above All Of Her Peers ]

[ Thank You Lynn For Always Being The Cherry On The Top ]
